Leading the team at The Kauri Museum, Lisa’s leadership provides strategic and operational planning, relationship and stakeholder management and general management across the Museum’s visitor services, collections, marketing, staff, finances and buildings. Lisa holds a Masters of Science with First Class Honours from Auckland University. Inside the Museum you’ll also find its founding trio, who began the Museum’s work with a team of volunteers and the local community. It was his vision which motivated the community and his determination was rewarded as he watched his collection gain international repute.
The stunning work of Tudor Collins right , bushman and photographer extraordinaire, is seen throughout The Kauri Museum and his photographs are of immense importance in documenting the history of the Kauri and the people of the North. The Kauri Museum is a community Museum governed by a Charitable Trust, the Otamatea Kauri Pioneer Museum Board. These volunteers are an essential part of our Museum community and continue to be a tremendous asset for a charitable organisation. Museum volunteers donate their time and skills to help out with tasks such as restoring stationary engines, spring cleaning, acting as live models, working in the shop, helping in the museum gardens and assisting with textiles and archives.

The Kauri Museum, Matakohe, in Northland New Zealand is a charitable trust governed by the Otamatea Kauri Pioneer Museum Trust and funded through admission and shop revenue. The museum specialises in the legacy of our Kauri forests specifically the strong durable timber and the highly prized Kauri gum. The Kauri Museum’s mission is for the community of Matakohe in preserving the region’s kauri and pioneering heritage and sharing interactive experiences with locals and visitors alike
